Day 1 of Maximum Lacrosse Camp at UNO!

Wow! We couldn't have asked for better weather for the boys' first day at Max Seibald's Maximum Lacrosse Camp!

The boys all registered, got their Nike "swag" bags filled with camp pinnies, PowerIce (which if you  haven't had a chance to try... are amazing!) and TapOut mouth guards which were generously donated by Battle Sports Science.

The overnight campers then got to their dorm rooms and got to hang out with Max Seibald, Rob Pannell and Brendan Mundorf who are all staying in the dorm with them.  It was pretty amazing to watch the boys chatting with these amazing lacrosse players who were just hanging out with them, playing a little wall ball and having a blast!

The day campers arrived a bit later and immediately took the field for an afternoon of tips, tricks and drills!  I took a few pictures (see below), but they don't come close to capturing how much fun the boys were having... looks like it will be a great week!

Feel free to click on any picture to get a closer look and flip through them!! :)

Once again there is an incredible opportunity for the kids here in Omaha to learn from the best! Don't miss out!

On page 42 of your newest LACROSSE magazine you will see Meet TEAM USA.  At the top of the page under MIDFIELD you'll see CAITLYN MCFADDEN.  Caitlyn is the camp director for the P2 Nebraska girls camp on 24/25 June at Creighton Prep.  This is an amazing opportunity for girls of all ages to learn from one of the best players in the world....and right here in Omaha.  The price is only $50 for this camp.  Information about the camp can be found on the OLC homepage or at the following link:

LaxTravaganza & Cleats for Kids - A Great Opportunity to Grow the Game!

Press Release

Nebraska Lacrosse partners with Omaha KROC Center for its Inaugural Cleats for Kids Donation Drive

In conjunction with the Nebraska State Lacrosse Extravaganza this Cleats for Kids donation drive seeks from families “no longer worn” athletic cleats of any sport.  Our mission on this donation drive is to provide good footwear that is often just out grown and not worn out, to youth athletes who may not have resources to buy new or needed athletic shoes.

Our “LaxTravaganza” is a three day tournament event that is comprised of both boys and girls high school and youth Lacrosse club teams that concludes with a boy’s high school championship game.
This 2013 Nebraska Lacrosse LaxTravaganza will be held at Burke High School and will be held from Friday May 31st through June 2nd with our championship game to be held at 5:00pm on June 2nd.

Nebraska Lacrosse will have a convenient location set-up throughout the weekend at Burke for parents to donate the footwear.  In addition to helping families with footwear for their athletes, we have hopes to spread the word about our exciting and rapidly growing game.

The Omaha Kroc Center will be the recipient of our donation.

The "Little Girls" Playing Chumash, The "Big Boys" Playing Hard!

I had so much fun last Sunday.  Not only did I get to watch two really good games that my son played in, but I got a chance to watch what Gwen calls the "Little Girls" play.  Can I just tell you that if you have even the tiniest cavity you might want to avoid watching these girls play lacrosse because they are incredibly sweet!!

The little ones play a modified version of lacrosse called Chumash.  In this version there is one tall thin goal in the middle of the field and each team fields 3 players (with one substitute allowed) and each team tries to score on their side of the goal.

With the little ones, the coaches are on the field and helping to teach the girls the basics of the game while the girls get a feel for cradling, shooting and playing a little defense.

If you get a chance to watch these little ones play you should take a minute our two and do so... it's great to see the future of the game growing with ones so young!  In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the game that I watched, as well as some from the "big boys" :)

And here are some U/13 Boys teams - Vicious & Delicious v. The Fighting Irish
It was a great game that was tied up by the Fighting Irish in the final seconds, went into overtime and was won by Vicious & Delicious with a 5-4 score.

And here in their second game of the day, Vicious & Delicious played against the Boys U/13 team, the Warriors.
